JiveSpain is as much a social club as a dance class and over the 9½ years they have been meeting to learn to dance ‘Modern Jive’, they have grown from 8 to 1,500 members. Less than 20 people could dance ‘Modern Jive’ (a blend of Jiving and Salsa that has gone global) before they joined their little club.
Every night they have new members joining, that can’t dance one single step or insist that they dance with two left feet. As founder of JiveSpain and the principal teacher he would love to take credit for so many people enjoying a new found skill but it’s the JiveSpain CREW, 6 very experienced dancers, that are primarily responsible. Each week they work hard to ensure that every new member is made welcome and can dance that evening’s routine by the end of the session.
Most of them are British ex pats but they welcome people from every country and our membership includes over 15 different nationalities. They dance at five venues along the coast 51 weeks every year and then have one big party each year when they get together from all three venues and enjoy a dinner dance, usually with a dress theme.
They promise that you will be made welcome from the moment you arrive, you will definitely learn to dance and over the weeks ahead, make so many new friends you won’t be able to afford enough Christmas cards.

Classes
MONDAY: Kept free for Private Lessons
TUESDAY: Bella Vista Country Club and Caravan Park Duquesa. Directions: Bella Vista is on the beach side of the A7 (main coast road) just to the west of Duquesa Port. It’s very near the Eroski Supermarket but on the other side of the road about 200 meters to the west. Easy parking.
WEDNESDAY: Pena Flamenca del Sur, La Cala de Mijas. Between Fuengirola and Calahonda. Directions: There is one main roundabout in the center of La Cala with Biddy Milligan’s on one corner. Take the exit that goes to the sea and then turn first right. Stay on this narrow road, after a while you go over a bridge and the post office is immediately after the bridge on the left. The venue is next to the post office. Parking is right outside.
THURSDAY: El Campanario Country Club ‘FREESTYLE’ night, live music. Directions: From Marbella direction, go through the San Pedro tunnel. Look for the BENAHAVIS exit. Don’t take it. Take the first slip road which is just around the bend. Go past a yellow wall followed by a white wall. At the end is a stop sign turn right. Go over one roundabout and keep going until you see an all wood boundary on your left then turn left and immediately left into the car park. From Estepona, take the BENAHAVIS exit and go back towards Estepona. Take the first slip road and follow the directions above
