Essi Martela is a Finnish osteopath and yoga instructor working in the Mijas Costa and Fuengirola area.   She qualified as an Osteopath at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki, Finland.  She also studied Spanish and history of art at The University of Leicester in England.

You can choose to have one or two sessions:

Option 1 - 35% off two x 2 hour sessions normally 110€ and now only 71.50€

Option 2 - 30% off a 1 hour session normally 55€ and now only 38.50€

Treatment is for both adults and children.

The session can be used to treat all sorts of conditions such as:

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy in which the body is seen as a unit that comprises the physical body, the mind and the spirit. An osteopathic treatment aims to restore function by treating the causes of pain and imbalance. In osteopathic philosophy the interrelationship between the structure and function is emphasized, as is the belief in the body’s self-healing mechanism.

Palpation, the process of using one’s hands to examine, is one of osteopaths’ most valuable tools. Osteopathy is a patient oriented approach in which the osteopath aspires to find the cause instead of merely treating the symptoms. The treatment is gentle and suitable for people of all ages, including children.

Treatment is individually planned and aims at a more balanced body.

What to expect?

The first treatment begins with a detailed medical history that takes around 10-15 minutes followed by a physical assessment. The interview and physical assessment is important to ensure the treatment given is suitable and safe. In the treatments to follow the interview takes less time. For the treatment one can wear daywear or underwear. After the treatment is over it’s beneficial to drink water and take it easy, in order for the body to get maximum benefit from the changes that occur in the body during and after treatment.

One treatment may resolve your problem, but more treatments might be necessary.

One can see an osteopath even without a specific symptom, as regular treatment promotes health, and can prevent new ailments from appearing. Osteopathy also increases body awareness.
