ABOUT TEST YOUR INTOLERANCE
Why Test Hair?
Unlike hair, blood tests can be affected by your last meal, stress or other factors. Hair can store information for periods up to 3 months, or more, allowing us to get a greater picture of your body’s health.
A few reasons why analysing hair is better:
Easy to read results
State of the art facility
Their testing facilities have just been upgraded and they have invested in 4 of the latest generation Bio-feedback machines. These machines are manufactured in Germany and are certified as a class IIa medical devices.
Customer is responsible for all costs associated with the carriage of hair sample to merchant's address processing unit. Please ensure the correct postage amount has been paid as merchant is not liable for any extra charges.
The test does not make a medical diagnosis nor is it a substitute for health or medical advice. If you have a medical condition you should consult a qualified healthcare practitioner. The test does not measure type IgE allergies. Since these reactions can be serious, you should seek the help of an allergy specialist.
How do I take a hair sample?
The safest way to take a hair sample is to ask someone else to help you. First brush your hair upwards to reveal the root area at the back of the head, then holding a small amount of hair between the finger and thumb, cut the hair as close to the scalp as possible (without drawing blood). If you do not have anyone to help you, using a mirror may help ensure you avoid injury.
How much hair do I have to provide?
Only a small amount – 5 individual strands of hair. We do not require large clumps of hair.
My hair is very short, can I still complete the tests?
The hair sample does not have to be from the head; we can test hair from any part of the body including leg, arm or chest.
My hair is dyed, will this affect the result?
No, the test is completed on the composition of the hair sample so hair colouring will have no effect on the result.
Will medication affect my test results in anyway?
Unfortunately as there is a large variety in medication it may affect your samples. We would recommend you seek advice from your doctor, or a member of our dedicated Customer Services team who are available on LiveChat 24 hours a day, Monday-Friday.
Can you test for coeliac disease?
We do not test for coeliac disease, however we can test for a gluten intolerance. If you suspect you may have coeliac disease we strongly recommend you seek advice from your GP.
Can I find out if I have coeliac disease with one of your tests?
A reaction to gluten or wheat in our tests does NOT show the presence of coeliac disease. In order to test for coeliac disease you should speak to your GP. The blood testing usually carried out is total IgA and IgA tissue transglutaminase antibody (tTG).
What machinery will test my hair sample?
We use MARS III Quantum Response Systems, produced by Bruce Copen Laboratories.
What accreditation does your equipment have?
Bruce Copen Laboratories follow a quality management system in accordance with AC: 2007 and are certified as a manufacturer of medical products. The MARS III is approved as a medical device class IIa in accordance with Directive 93/42/EEC.
My results don't show any intolerances or allergies yet I have uncomfortable symptoms, how can these results be correct?
In the unlikely occurrence of zero results on your allergy and intolerance test, we would recommend speaking to your GP to help you understand your symptoms and their root cause.
